  • The right to receive care that meets established standards practice.
    • To receive your care from qualified and knowledgeable staff.
  • The right to confidentiality.
    • To have your information kept private.
  • The right to information.
    • To be informed of any matters that concern you including your medical condition and choices of treatment.
    • To have access to your personal health information.
  • The right to express yourself freely.
    • To be informed about about how to express concern or make suggestions without fear of anything negative happening to you.
    • To communicate freely with any person.
  • The right to make decisions about your personal or financial life or to choose someone else to act for you.
    • To choose whether or not you wish to participate.
    • To agree to any treatment after it has been explained to you.
    • To have the person acting for you treated respectfully.
    • To have the person acting for you receive all the information needed to make decisions for you.
  • The right to live free of abuse.
    • To live in a place free of psychological, physical, financial or sexual abuse.
    • To have any allegations of abuse investigated by Riverview Health Centre or the "Protection for Persons in Care Office" without fear that anything negative will happen to you.
